Charity Milonga for Barbara at Haigh Hall Ballroom Strictly Tango Preston and TangoAires Liverpool are holding a very special joint milonga to celebrate the life of Barbara Walters. Having been part of the North West tango scene for many years, Barbara was a lovely dancer and a kind, warm person who has encouraged and supported many of us in tango and in wider pursuits. This milonga will be an opportunity for us all to remember and celebrate Barbara. We will be donating all proceeds of the milonga to the Marina Daglish Appeal (, a charity of Barbara's choice. The milonga is also completely open and welcome to anyone else who may not have known Barbara - we would like to raise as much money as possible and it would be great to have as many people as possible there, dancing, and enjoying the afternoon. Venue The venue is a beautiful ballroom in the Haigh Hotel, Wigan, roughly an hour from Liverpool and 45 minutes from Preston. The address is Haigh Hall Hotel, School Lane, Wigan WN2 1PF. Tea, coffee soft drinks and alcohol can be purchased from the bar at the venue and some cakes and snacks will be available to purchase on the day. Fundraising The cost of the milonga will be £12, with any further donations welcome. We will also be doing a raffle on the day with some great prizes including free private tango classes, so make sure you bring some spare change! If anyone has any ideas of raffle prizes to offer, please let us know. Playing the music on the day will be DJ Helen from Liverpool doing the first set, followed up by the fantastic DJs Gill and Nigel from StrictlyTango. We hope we'll see lots of you there!

Saturday 29th June Workshops with Guest Teacher Daniele Donzello
I am super excited that Daniele is coming to teach his rolling technique for us.  Having attended his workshops in Manchester recently, I can say, he is one of the best teachers I have come across (I don't say that often!!!) To maintain equal numbers, workshops are PRE BOOKING ONLY Daniele is from Pisa, Italy.  He is a passionate milonguero and teaches tango in his local tango school Noprofitango Asd. His mentors include Noelia Hurtado & Carlitos Espinoza, Maja Petrovic & Marko Miljevic and Stephanie Fesneau & Fausto Carpino. Daniele will also be doing a demonstration at our Tea Dance on Sunday 30th June at Prospect House, Leyland. Daniele specialises in teaching the ROLLING TECHNIQUE which is a wonderful way of keeping complete connection.  Price: £45 for 3 x workshops plus drinks and snacks.  Each workshop will be between 1 and 1.5 hours each. I will be at the venue from 12.15 if you wish to arrive and eat your lunch prior to the workshops.  Workshops will start at 1pm. Please email to register. Workshop 1 – Technique 1: Rolling in Walking, Connection and Presence (For all Levels) We will explore the very basic of the rolling technique. In this lesson, we will dissect the minute details of walking, connection and presence by applying the rolling technique in every single step we take. We will explain how to use our body naturally to maintain the connection and providing a presence when we walk. We will practice alone and in couples, in open then into close embrace. Workshop 2 – Technique 2: The Rolling Embrace (For All Levels) Following Workshop 1, we will introduce the concept of rolling embrace, focusing on leading and following a pivot. In close embrace, we will explore the freedom of movement of the rolling technique in our upper body. In this lesson, we will explain and provide exercises to everyone to practice the rolling embrace in couple, and alone. We will complete this lesson by combining technique 1 & 2 to naturally l eading and following a paradas. We don’t need the flexibility of a yoga maestro to dissociate, we should dance with our natural human body! Workshop 3 – Timing and Musicality (For All Levels) In this workshop we will explore in depth into the timing and the rhythm. We will share with you how to decide which timings we can apply on the music. We will explain how double time works, how to create more than one double time, and how to stop, slow down and speed up a certain movement in a melodic music. Dancing fast tango will not be difficult anymore!"    To register please email Lucy
